Last week I got yelled and scolded by my little sister complaining about me forcing her into using OpenOffice.org for her assignments. So while she searched and scoured the net for all her copy-paste work, I was yapping at her about paraphrasing and translating her articles herself instead of searching some content in the Tagalog Wikipedia and just dragging those texts to OpenOffice. She asked me why we were using OpenOffice in the first place and the jerk in me told her that if she has money to buy us MS Office and MS Windows, I’d be glad to install it in my own computer. The FOSS advocate in me, on the other hand, told me I should make my brothers and sisters use FOSS and make a case study out of them (which is being chronicled in my FOSS articles here, mwah-hah-hah).

Anyway, back to the story. I had her save the file in OpenOffice’s ODT format and I told her she should just save the file into my USB stick and head to the nearest computer shop to print it (I’d be buying a new printer hopefully soon). The next day, I got the scoldings and the yellings.

Bibihira sa ating bansa (kung naiintindihan niyo ‘to, ibig sabihin alam niyo ang bansa na sinasabi ko) na magkaroon ng isang Filipino-language na blog tungkol sa teknolohiya, na may katuturan o relevance sa pang-araw-araw na Pinoy. Binuo ang konespto ng TechKaMuna upang matugunan ang pangangailangn ng isang Filipino-based na techblog na upbeat at masayang basahin.

Sa araw-araw na masamang balitang lagi nating nasasagap tungkol sa pulitika at ekonomiya, hindi naman siguro masama na magbasa-basa muna tayo nang kaunti tungkol sa teknolohiya na isinasa-alang-alang ang kapasidad ng mga mambabasa kung ano ba talaga ang umiikot sa mga teknolohiyang ito. Ang bawat artikulo dito ay (sana) hindi kasing-uptight gaya ng unang post na ito.

Layunin din ng TechKaMuna na manguna sa mga nakakaaliw at nakakabaliw na mga kuwentong teknolohiya, hawig sa pagsasalaysay ng mge techblogs gaya ng Engadget at Stuff.tv. Maasahan ninyo na magiging malawak ang coverage ng TechKaMuna dahil sa mga contributors nito na may masasabi naman sa iba’t ibang larangan ng teknolohiya.

Hinihikayat po namin kayo na mag-email din sa amin sa cont...@techkamuna.com para mapakinggan din namin ang inyong mga kuwento, links, at komento tungkol sa aming mga tampok na paksa.
